“ThriveCart’s low transaction fees help me sell more in Europe”

Digital entrepreneur Kevin Fiedler runs a successful business teaching people how to create passive income via YouTube through VideoNinjasDojo. Based in Germany, he found some of the local options to publish online courses lacking and some were demanding huge transaction fees of nearly 8%. Luckily, he found ThriveCart

“I just stumbled on ThriveCart by Googling how to sell online courses,” Kevin says. “In Germany we have Digistore24, Elopage… but none of the options I found were right for my business.”

As it turns out, the transaction fees for these European-based platforms were the killer. For sellers on Elopage, the transaction fee is reduced depending on the sales volume, plus €0.50 per transaction. Not only is that very expensive, it’s also complicated, with multiple factors weighing in on how much you’ll pay per transaction – leaving some sellers in the dark about how much they’ll actually make in profit.

For example, users on the Essential Plan 3.0 – Elopage’s beginner tier plan, staring at €398 per year – instead pay a flat 3.9% on the “seller model” (selling in your own name), or a whopping 7.5% rate on the “reseller model” (selling under Elopage’s name).

Digistore24’s pricing model is a bit easier to understand, yet still expensive: free to set up, then charging €1 plus 7.9% of the gross price on every sale. When you lose the best part of 10% on every sale – even before factoring fees from third-party platforms such as PayPal – it’s tough to wonder why you should keep going.

That’s why, when Kevin discovered ThriveCart, he was thrilled he could get up and running for just one simple lifetime license – and never have to worry about transaction fees again.

“I’ve released ebooks and online courses through ThriveCart,” he says. “Mainly memberships. I’m planning on exploring more complex sales funnels soon.”

Kevin was a software engineer before he built out his hobby of teaching people how to create and publish music from their own homes. As his YouTube channel exploded in popularity, he realized he could earn even more passive income by teaching people how to do what he had a natural talent for – creating engaging videos online.

His advice for other people who want to follow in his footsteps?

“Just start! Get your first sale, try different things, and maybe one takes off. Make it a priority in your life. When I was taking my first steps I’d get up two hours early to work on my business – I placed my alarm clock on the other side of the room so I’d have to get up to switch it off!”

According to Kevin, he tried creating and marketing multiple ebooks before he hit his stride with online video coaching. In the end, it’s about trying new things, exploring all your options, and never being afraid of failure – because each time you fail is another step towards success.

Ultimately, that’s what led Kevin to discover ThriveCart, the platform that helped propel his business to new heights.
